One of the highlights of 2015 was our open day. In the past couple of years, we were not able to open our doors to the public due to the building and renovation process at ASTRON. But, after a lot of preparation and organisation, the day was finally here.
On Sunday 4 October we again opened up our headquarters in Dwingeloo for everyone who is interested in radio astronomy, or was just curious to see what is happening at ASTRON. Besides presentations on various subjects and being able to see our facilities up close, there were several activities for young and older children to participate in. The day itself was a big success and with the weather being extremely nice for the time of year, close to three thousand people visited us. More than 130 volunteers were active in presenting ASTRON, JIVE, NOVA and CAMRAS to the public.
