ASTRON receives a basic grant from NWO. In addition to this grant, we have to generate funding in open competition, from NWO, the EU and other subsidy providers. The acquisition target for additional funding remains stable at ~50%, partly due to the co-funding (matching) conditions, required for most grants. Limited revenues are generated from contract research and technology.
In 2014 the result of ASTRON was € 631,129 (excl. participations)
In 2015 the result of ASTRON was € 253,066 (excl. participations)
The scientific program of ASTRON has four priorities for the coming years:
- LOFAR Science Harvesting
- WSRT-APERTIF first generation surveys
- SKA preconstruction phase
- Strengthening the fundamental science programme
In our scientific programme, we explicitly aim to link with the National Science Agenda (NWO) and the Top Sector Policy.
In 2016, the exploration and scientific output of LOFAR will continue at full power.
